Nothing says summertime quite like roasting s’mores on a warm night. While you might associate this old-fashioned favorite with camping or bonfires, it’s also easier than you might think to create a DIY personal s’mores roaster that you can use in your backyard or on your patio.

Instructions for Your DIY S’mores Roaster

All you’ll need to complete this project is:

  • An unglazed terra cotta pot (it doesn’t have to be large)
  • Aluminum foil (heavy-duty is best)
  • Charcoal
  • A lighter
  • S’mores supplies

First, line your terra cotta pot with the aluminum foil. The terra cotta holds heat well, while the aluminum foil will prevent the pot from burning. Place the charcoal inside and light it. Let it burn down a bit before getting out your s’mores supplies.

You can keep your s’mores traditional with marshmallows, graham crackers, and squares of milk chocolate. However, we also like swapping in peanut butter cups for the chocolate or using different kinds of marshmallows. Chocolate marshmallows and chocolate graham crackers make for a fun, all-chocolate twist.
